Volkswagen Group Debuts Six Brands in China at Auto Beijing 2010


  • Six brands debut in one exhibition hall
  • 9,326 square meters – Creates new record in exhibition area
  •  Four world premiere models by brands

23rd April 2010, Beijing At the 2010 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition that opened today, Volkswagen Group China has made a debut of an unprecedented strong lineup. Six of the nine brands of Volkswagen Group available for sale in China - Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini, together with Porsche brand – have joined hands to show up at the E5 Hall of the China International Exhibition Center (Tianzhu). The total exhibition area hits 9,326 square meters (Volkswagen, 4,000 square meters; Audi, 2,000 square meters; Skoda, 1,350 square meters; Bentley, 540 square meters; Lamborghini, 276 square meters; Bugatti, 270 square meters; and Porsche, 890 square meters). The area has not only ranked atop all the exhibitors at the auto show, but also created a new record in the exhibition scale of Volkswagen Group in China.

Dr. Winfried Vahland, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group China, says, “In the first quarter of this year, we have achieved a better-than-expected sales record in China market – In the first three months, we have delivered 457,259 new cars to the consumers in the Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong Region, an increase of 60.9% year on year. Providing consumers with new models that satisfy their needs is the key to our success. Our locally produced models, such as Volkswagen Golf GTI, Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi Q5 and Skoda New Octavia, have been extensively accepted in the market. You may see from our lineup at the Auto China 2010, we will join hands with Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen to put more new models in China market – more than any year.”

It is the first time for Volkswagen Group to display all of its brands available in China as a lineup in the same exhibition hall, which will not only show the powerful strength of Volkswagen Group, but facilitate the audience to enjoy the charm of various brand models of Volkswagen Group in the same exhibition hall.

The six brands that participated in the Auto China 2010 have respective features. There are four world premiere models by brands: Volkswagen new Phaeton, Audi A8L W12, and Audi A8L V6. Porsche also debuts Porsche Panamera 4 as world premiere and Porsche new Cayenne Hybrid as Asian premiere. The China premiere models are: locally produced Volkswagen CC by FAW-Volkswagen, Shanghai Volkswagen Skoda Octivia Facelift, Bentley GTC Victoria in Supersports Convertible

With the super luxurious lineup, Volkswagen Group hopes to demonstrate its appeal as the leader in the global automotive industry, and deliver the long-term commitment to China market through the launch of new models under different brands.
